Walking in This World - What is it?
As is the case with all of Julia Cameron’s books - it’s an invitation, a process and a means of creatively connecting to our wisdom and purpose.
Subtitled The Practical Art of Creativity this is the second book in her Artist’s Way series - following on from The Artist’s Way.
Which is not a prerequisite.
Over the course of twelve weeks we’ll work together in “Discovering” -
a Sense of Origin
a Sense of Proportion
a Sense of Perspective
a Sense of Adventure
a Sense of Personal Territory
a Sense of Boundaries
a Sense of Momentum
a Sense of Discernment
a Sense of Resiliency
a Sense of Comaraderie
a Sense of Authenticity
a Sense of Dignity
We’ll employ the time-tested & proven tools introduced nearly thirty years ago -
Morning Pages, a daily writing exercise
An Artist Date, a weekly time out - a play date for an hour or two
Walking, a twice weekly twenty-minute walk
“They are simple and repetitive” - said a critic who meant to disparage the tools.
Cameron counters that it’s precisely how they are meant to be, simple! "They are very potent. You can’t use them without having a spiritual breakthrough”
By exploring our insights in a 90-minute weekly group session, we will explore the patterns and habits which may have once served us well - but no longer do. In light of those insights and with the support of our peers, we will cultivate a heightened awareness, and develop new practices that will serve us moving forward.
We’re trading what were once survival skills for ‘thrival’ skills!
When we have completed our twelve-week journey through Walking in This World we will:
be consciously aware of our patterns, traps & triggers and how to avoid them
have clarity about choosing goals congruent with our values
recognize and become more confident in our ‘knowing’ - our inner wisdom
Most significantly, you will have learned to embrace the future confidently.
